I thought I would jot down a few things about Azi on the night of her 3rd birthday!!! I hope that one day when as he reads this (in her twenties, and hopefully her blog is still alive and running) that she will laugh and think, 'OMG I am still exactly like this' ... OR laugh and say, 'I can't believe that is how I was' ... (I sometimes hope it is the latter - for a few of her traits (like her major meltdowns ... But know it will be the former one) ...
Well, having had Zaria first and Azi second has certainly opened Phil and my eyes to how different 2 children from the same set of parents can be ... I really really try not to compare (Phil is exceptionally good at not comparing) .. But I think it is human nature to compare with what we know ... (Just as we walk around a new city and say. 'Oh wow, that is exactly like this' etc) ...
BUT ... in this blog ... I will just write about Azi.
Fortunately or unfortunately with Azi is you never quite know what you are going to get (It is sort of like opening a bag of favourites chocolates, you might get the yucky cherry ripe ones or you might get the yummy peppermint crisp) ... So Azi certainly keeps everyone around her on their toes ... especially Phil, I and Zaria.
One minute she can be running around, giving you the biggest hugs and kisses and laughing and chatting away ... a few minutes later she is crying and throwing her hands all over the place as she tries to explain the situation and eventually ends with crossing her arms and her lip over her other lip ... It certainly does make us shake our heads and go, 'who is this child?' ...
I feel that at certain times whoever is in charge of her - tiptoes around her ... it is actually quiet funny ...
When she is happy - she is REALLY happy, the biggest smiles, the cutest laugh ... BUT when she is grumpy, she is really grumpy - moaning, refusing to do whatever it is you want her to do, miserable (Please Azi grow out of this) ...
Azi LOVES LOVES TV!! She loves the iPad and she Loves the phone! She loves scrolling on YouTube and finding silly videos of people opening presents and playing with their Elsa and Anna doll ... Even though I warn Azi, '5 more minutes and then we switch off' and she says, 'Yes Mommy' in the sweetest possible way ... As soon as the screen is taken away ... there is a melt-down ... My resolution to that - is no screen, no meltdown (But then she begs for it)
Azi LOVES treats ... She could live on SWEET food only! Icy-poles, suckers, raisins, bananas... Currently we have these little boxes of raisins - Azi thinks they are the best thing ever! She goes to the snack cupboard constantly and wants these little little boxes.
Az will never eat anything before asking. 'Mommy can I have XYZ' (In her sweet little voice) ...
She calls olives 'pickles' and can eat 20 olives in one go!
She LOVES playing with Zaria ... She loves being imaginative with Zaria, acting like a fairy or a lion or a big hippo or anything, she loves putting on shows with Zaria ... If Zaria gives her attention - she is her happiest
Zaria is the worlds best big sister ... She knows exactly what to say to Azi to calm her down!
My favourite part of the day is when Azi sees Zaria after school, she runs up to her and gives her the biggest hug (most days ... Some days she wakes up from her afternoon sleep in the pram just as we fetch ZaZ - and she wants to know nobody - as I said, 'lucky packet Azi')
(My least favourite part of the day is getting Azi dressed in winter clothes in the morning - of which she refuses to wear anything but her grey and black metalicus dress or her floral skirt - and its is a scream or bribery or race to get leggings and a jacket on ... and getting into PJ's at night - which often ends up wearing normal clothes to bed) ...
Azi does NOT like me standing around and chatting toothier mothers ... She wants to go ... she will say things like, 'Stop taking mom, let's go' or 'this is soon booooring. lets go' ...
Az also does not like waiting for the bus, she says (in a moaning voice) ... 'Where is the bus, the bus is never coming' ...
She does not go to sleep by herself and will say in a confused looking face voice, 'But I need an adult to help me go to sleep' ... (Like as if, who goes to sleep without an adult)
She often asks questions or makes statements with this confused look on her face ...
Just when you don't think she is listening to whats going on around her ... she will pipe up with a comment ... Like today we were all getting ready to go, Azi was doing her own thing and all of a sudden she said, 'Let's hit the beach' ...
She adores Phil ... and when Phil is around it is all 'daddy, daddy, daddy' ...
Tonight's conversation:
Azi: 'Mom, daddy said I can watch TV'
Mom" Really, is that what daddy said?
Azi: Dad - did you say I can watch TV?
Phil: I said you must ask mom
Azi: Mom. daddy said I can watch TV
Mom: Oh no, Daddy did not say that, what did daddy say
Azi: Dad, I am the birthday girl, can I watch TV
At the moment, Azi is not that interested in other kids ... and would much rather play with me ... hmmm
Azi does NOT like people/strangers touching her! And unfortunately in Malta, everyone is very 'touchy' ... they will be friendly by touching her head, or wanting to pick her up onto the bus ... It must for some interesting moments - trying to explain - please don't touch my child! - when they are just trying to be friendly ...
Azi and eating - again, lucky packet ... just when you think she likes something - she won;t eat it ... She does not like MUSH (like curry's etc) - everything must be neatly separated and nicely cut and presented - with tomato sauce!
I do feel that a lot of Azi's personality is because we took her to 2 noisy and loud bat mitzvah parties when she was 1 week old, and because in the first year of her life I got my thermie, feel in love with Jamie Oliver, recipes, thermie recipes and discovered FB on my phone!! (and spent every morning breastfeeding and watching My house rules) ... I'm making up for being 'present' now.
Azi - we absolutely LOVE you and all your quirkiness!!! PG years ahead of health, happiness and adventures!
